Sugar and children.

Welcome.
Sugar and children.

We buy sweets,lollipops,chocolates,ice-cream and fizzy drinks for our children, in the name of love and reward. Very often it is to make up for the lack of time we spend with them. What we are actually doing is plant diseases in our children.

If children eat to much sugar they are probably not eating enough healthy, nutrient-rich foods. Most high-sugar food provide few nutrients as they are empty calories. When children fill up on empty calories, they are to full to eat anything else.

In addition, their delicate pancreas would be overworked. Any organ in the body,if overworked or abused repeatedly, may begin to wear out and start behaving haphazardly. This would increase the child's chances of geting diabetes or other related diseases. It is important that we do not inculcate the "sweets tooth" right from young.

A survey done by CAP. on food comsumption in primary school children showed  that 82% of their favourite snacks were high in fat and sugar.Soft drinks topped the list of the children's favourite snacks.
The children[8-12 years] spend on average,RM 1 a day on snack foods in school. They also snack at least twice a day.
Happy reading, Thanks.
